Dermatoscopy of neavus

Dermatoscop is gadget that lights up and increases changes on skin and allows us to see if neavus grows in deepness or not ( that can’t be seen by naked-eye). Dermatoscopy is applied primary in the diagnosis of benign and malignant melanoma. Method is highly reliable, considering that dermatoscopic review melanoma be diagnosed in almost 100%.

When dermatoscopy should be done and how does it look like?

Dermatoscopic review should be performed in every person right after puberty, it is very important because melanoma can appear in older and in youth(rare). Review of one naevus lasts in average about 10 seconds. Consider taht man has from a few to a few hundred neavus, review can lasts 15-20 minutes.

It is very important to point out that every neavus has to be reviewed, because neavus can by naked-eye looks just fine and be very malignant at the same time.

As soon as we notice changes on the neavus in sense of irregular shape of change bigger then 6mm in diameter, bleeding, wound, itch, injures of neavus etc. We should go to dermatologist.
